We collect
more than 26 million of natural specimens of biology, zoology, botany, paleontology, bioarchaeology and, in general, biosciences and geosciences..

We contribute
to the development of disciplines like biodiversity, earth and water sciences, polar research, health, agricultural and marine sciences, molecular and cellular biology, archaeology and history.

We are part of
DiSSCo, a European research infrastructure made up of the largest natural history collections on the continent: 170 institutions from 23 countries.
DiSSCo-ES makes natural history collections visible
The DiSSCo Spanish Node, also known as DiSSCo-ES, is a distributed network of Spanish scientific collections held in Museums, Botanical Gardens, Universities and other research institutions, operating under common access and preservation policies and practices.


DiSSCo-ES is formed by 23 Spanish institutions and led by the Museo Nacional de Ciencias Naturales
The Spanish National Node is currently (January 2024) made up of seven organizations: the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), the University of Navarra (UNAV), the University Complutense of Madrid (UCM), the University of Valencia (UV), the Consorci Museu de Ciències Naturals de Barcelona (MNCB), the Cabildo de Gran Canaria and the University of Granada. The National Museum of Natural Sciences of Madrid (MNCN-CSIC) is the leading institution.
